AEK take three points at empty OAKA

AEK began the season with a victory over Panetolikos, defeating their opponents 2-0 with goals from Almeida and Johansson.
AEK were awarded a penalty after a nasty challenge from Paulo on Traustason in the 12th minute and Hugo Almeida made no mistake from the spot, finding the back of the net with a powerful, well placed strike one minute later. Anestis kept AEK ahead with a couple of big saves before an off-the-ball foul from Almeida, resulted in a straight red for the Portuguese striker.
At the start of the second half, Panetolikos were left with ten men when Paulo was handed a second yellow card. The hosts then began to press on for a second goal which came in the 72nd minute through Johansson (assist Mantalos). The goal was initially disallowed by the officials, but the assistant referee admitted to his mistake and the goal stood.
AEK will be content with their start to the Superleague season and after three matches in Europe, have scored their first goals of the year. The attention will now turn to the all important match against Club Brugge in the Europa League on Thursday.
