Marko Livaja arrived in Greece on Saturday and successfully passed the necessary medical tests before signing a 1-year loan del from Las Palmas at AEK. The deal includes a €2 million buy-out clause at the end of the season if AEK and the player wish to continue their partnership.
The 23-year old striker, who has played with all of Croatia’s youth national teams, will look to strengthen AEK’s attacking line, similar to how his team-mate Sergio Araujo did in the second half of last season. Livaja signed with Las Palmas last summer and made 21 appearances for the club while scoring five goals in the La Liga.
At the age of 18 he signed with Inter Milan, making six appearances for the club, and was also loaned out to Lugano and Cesena while at Milan. He then stayed in Italy for Atalanta (31 appearances, 4 goals) before moving to Russia for Rubin Kazan from 2014-2016, which included a loan spell at Empoli from 2015-2016. While with Rubin Kazan (and Empoli) he only scored one goal from 30 appearances before finding his form with Las Palmas last year.
The 23-year old will wear the #10 jersey next season and will quickly join the rest of the team for pre-season training in Poland.
