ECONOMIC BOOST FOR AEK FROM EUROPA LEAGUE

AEK will receive an HUGE economic boost after qualifying for the Europa League group stages while the eliminations of both Panathinaikos and PAOK economically favored the Enosis.

The Kitrinomavri will receive a €2.6 million bonus for qualifying for the Europa League group stages and an additional €400.000 for participating in the Champions League 3rd qualifying round.

AEK will also receive the full amount from the Europa League market pool adjudicated for Greece as PAOK and Panathinaikos failed to qualify for the group stages. With the Kitrinomavri being the only Greek representative in the Europa League, AEK will receive €4.5 million from the market pool. In addition to the above bonuses, AEK will be rewarded for their results in the group stages and will earn €360,000 for each victory and €120,000 for every draw.

In other words, AEK’s triumph over Club Brugge will bring in at minimum €7.5 million to the club, an extraordinary amount for the Greek standards. What remains to be seen, is if president Melissanidis will use the extra money for further roster enhancements with last season’s fan favorite, Sergio Araujo, looking to be at the top of AEK’s list.
